Patrick Lesec Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Bargeton 2019 - Last Bottle

Patrick Lesec Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cuvee Bargeton 2019

OK OK OK hello, happy Tuesday, yes yes of COURSE you should do everything in your physical ability to snag this 92-94 POINT (plus Wine Advocate 92+!), 2019 vintage (so off the chain in Chateauneuf!!) RIGHT NOW, as we don’t have a lot and it is a staggering $55 OFF RETAIL (**poof goes the wine guys' brain**), but we LOVE this little ditty in the writeup from Jeb Dunnuck in his glowing, shimmering, dewy review (see whole writeup below):

“From a great blender”. NOW, don’t know about you, but our minds went instantly to A GREAT BLENDER, like the MOST massive Vitamix ever made, and in fact there is one (gotta love this Internet thing sometimes) filled with black cherries, raspberries, dark, ripe plums, licorice, lavender flowers, sweet thyme, kirsch, clove and so on and blended to smooth perfection. But seriously – WOW!! A colossal bang-for-the-buck ($35, c’mon!!!), hyper-deal, if you love the greatness of Chateauneuf like we do around here — there is simply not enough to satiate the beast. Hurry is all we can say, like you never hurried before…

Fact is, tho, Patrick Lesec IS a great blender in the Rhone Valley since 1993, making all manner of blockbusters from dozens of mucho-primo vineyard sites. This is 80% grenache, 15% mourvedre and 5% syrah from mostly older vines that range between 20 to 80 years of age (!) and are mostly sourced from the coveted "Cristia" lieu-dit (what's lieu-dit? HERE), which, he says breathlessly, is close to the holy temple of Chateauneuf Chateau Rayas, OH, AND …..

….this is….

…did we mention? $55 OFF!! The senses reel, do they not?! While it lasts..

For the Rhône Valley, the 2019 vintage is looking extremely strong. The winter was unusually mild with balmy temperatures continuing into a dry spring, prompting an early budbreak.

About The Producer

Patrick Lesec founded his negociant company in 1993. Their first vintage was released two years later in 1995. Patrick Lesec has long term contracts to purchase grapes and wine from various producers and growers with vines in some of the best terroir in the Chateauneuf du Pape appellation, including La Crau, Valori, Le Cristia and Palestor.

All of their wines are produced from Grenache dominated blends. Some of their vines are old, including Grenache parcels with vines that are more than 100 years of age. Much of the production is exported to the United States. The blends can vary from year to year, depending on the character and growing season of the vintage.
