Lafond Winery Pinot Noir SRH Sta. Rita Hills 2019
BOOM! Serious pinot noir fans...you NEED to get as much as you possibly can of this one!! We scored an eye-popping deal on this 94-POINTER, from the historic Lafond Winery, which is a luxurious half-mile float up the Santa Ynez River from the iconic Sanford & Benedict vineyard, and only a quarter mile from the mythical Sea Smoke! Now, THOSE are neighbors to be proud of! This is the heart of the Sta. Rita Hills – where only the very best fruit is grown, and typically priced in the $75 to $150+ range…NOT TODAY! An absolute MUST if you love killer bargains on the highest-level Central Coast pinot!! UNDER $20?!?! Let’s go!!!
We did mention over 45% off, right? Crazy. Anyway, this is gorgeous, heady, and powerful stuff – made by long-time winemaker, Bruce McGuire, who’s been at the helm since 1981! 2019 was noted by Wine Spectator as “a benchmark vintage for California pinot, with wines showing power, finesse, and structure for cellarings”...and…yep, that just about hits the nail on the head with this fantastic beauty! Plums, violets and peonies, cranberry preserves, and Christmas spice, and this smoky, savory, scrumdiddlyumptious note that would make Ned Flanders’ mustache twitch with unending delight! Wonderfully balanced, with a touch of cola, and layers upon layers of complex, ripe fruits that saturate every last corner of your mouth. The grace. The power. The structure! Drop-dead gorgeous now or any time over the next DECADE! Wow! And the crazy PRICE? Forgetaboutit. 94 POINTS from Wine Enthusiast! Will go in a flash...

About The Producer
In 1962, Pierre Lafond opened the first post-Prohibition winery in Santa Barbara. He was a trailblazer in the Santa Barbara wine scene, and it would be another 10 years before the second post-Prohibition winery would open in Santa Barbara, and there are over 100 now. Pierre took the leap because he loved fine wine, particularly French wine, and saw it as a fun business venture to complement his wine and cheese shop. Just shy of a decade later, he would oversee one of the first commercial vineyard plantings in Santa Barbara post-prohibition. Those holdings are in the highly acclaimed Santa Rita Hills AVA between two east-west mountain ranges that funnel morning fog into the vineyard valley, extending their growing season and allowing for intensely concentrated fruit. Today, Santa Barbara is a major player in stellar pinot noir production, and Lafond is the producer that reignited the winemaking flame in the region.
