Guarachi Pinot Noir Sun Chase Vineyard Petaluma Gap Sonoma Coast 2019
Pinot-philes…did you feel it? The ominous creak in the otherwise quiet forest, the heightened awareness, and quickened pulse that inevitably follows? Are you ready? Am I? Here...we...GO!!!
Sun Chase Vineyard! The most sought-after, universally revered vineyard in the glorious Petaluma Gap quadrant of California’s Sonoma Coast – home of some of the best pinots ANYWHERE! Oh, yesssss!!! 96 POINTS, and by far and away THE BEST PRICE anywhere!
We’re talking a brain-thumping 48% OFF – and a full $26 LESS than the next best price out there – the Guarachi Sun Chase Pinot Noir 2019 is HERE! Stop everything and take 30 seconds to LOCK some of this in – a rarity for pinot noir connoisseurs and Cal-Burgundy cognoscenti!! INCREDIBLE price!! We featured the 2013 YEARS ago and couldn’t top this wicked price even back then! UNDER $40?! For one of the tippy-top best Petaluma Gap pinot noirs on the market, in the absolute gold mine of a vintage – these 2019s are hot, hot, HOT!
But, you know, icy cool too…just wickedly entrancing the second the wine hits the glass. Rose petals, peonies, strawberry compote, with this minty, eucalyptus, tea leaf cooling sensation…just rocking! One sip and the floodgates are opened – with wave after wave of black raspberry, dark cherries, ripe red plums, and smoky minerals. There’s iron, but also myriad baking spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and even a bit of sweet, rooty sassafras! Rich and mouth-saturating, pure pleasure and happy-inducing goodness through and through! This will blow the roof off of Cali-Pinots twice or thrice the price – cool-climate oceanic proximity meets the high elevations (1200-1400 feet!) all in one of Sonoma’s most a**-kicking vineyard sites. Dan Kosta, Greg La Follette, Stephane Vivier, Russell Bevan, Mike Smith – some of California’s most iconic winemakers line up to get access to Alex Guarachi’s remarkable Sun Chase vineyard. You could…COULD…pay top dollar ($80 - $150+) to sample those, OR give this is go at the unbelievable UNDER $40 price point! I know what I’m choosing! Not much to be had – at 96 POINTS – we expect this to fly!!!!
P.S. – I’d be remiss not to at least mention Julian Gonzalez – the winemaker for this beauty. He served as the iconic Paul Hobbs #2 from 2007-2016 (Paul himself made these wines until 2016 until handing the reins to Julian). Julian has honed his skills in cellars from Stag’s Leap, to Dominus Estate, to Viña Cobos, and more…a winemaker to watch, for certain!
After a decade (and some change) of sourcing fruit from prized vineyards such as Gap’s Crown, William Hill’s Broken Rock Vineyard, and Beckstoffer’s To Kalon, Alex Gurachi purchased a vineyard for his own production in 2013. Sun Chase vineyard is a 250-acre (39 acres planted to vine) estate in the Petaluma Gap. In 2014, Guarachi purchased Meadow Rock Vineyard in Atlas Peak, a 50-acre estate separated into 13 blocks, not far from the iconic Stagecoach vineyard.

About The Producer
As a child growing up in Santiago Chile, Alex Guarachi dreamed of playing soccer in the United States, and at the age of 18, he did just that. Alex arrived in California in 1976, after receiving a scholarship from San Jose State University to play soccer. But after a career-ending injury a short time after, Alex made different plans and began his career in the wine industry importing Chilean and Argentinian wines to California before embarking on his winemaking career.
