Fort Ross Vineyard Chardonnay Sea Slopes Sonoma Coast 2021 - Last Bottle

Fort Ross Vineyard Chardonnay Sea Slopes Sonoma Coast 2021

Fall is flying into winter, and the season of gloriously rich, round, and decadent Cali-chardonnay is upon us!!! I mean, sure, I’ll drink these bottles year round sans hesitation…but this time of year? I drink even MORE. Point is...just grab a case of this epic deal on JEFF PISONI-made (Peter Michael, Pisoni Family…) Sonoma Coast chardonnay MAGIC at an all-time bat guano price…and THEN watch your life get magically better! Crazy uncle canceled on Thanksgiving? Insurance actually covered your doctor’s visit without a fight? Keno numbers hit big? It’s all possible!

I digress. FORT ROSS WINERY is really how we’re gonna change your luck for the better today! An EXTREME Sonoma Coast pioneer with vineyards about as close to the ocean as it gets, and a passion for farming world-class chards and pinots like few others can touch! Sea Slopes is their 2nd label – as good as any you’ll find in California and beyond – making use of their killer estate fruit, blended with some select neighboring vineyards up and down the Sonoma Coast…and it…is…TASTY!!! Barrel fermented and aged for 8 months, giving it that Goldilocks “just right” kiss of French oak – if you LOVE Cali-chardonnay…this is YOUR moment!

Rich and buttery, yet oh-so-much-more, with Meyer lemon, spring pine shoots, green apples, struck flint, all rounded and softened with some toasty spice and this luxuriously creamy mouthfeel, and the ever-revealing true Sonoma Coast signature of that salty sea air. Breathe deep, drink deeper – at this price you’re gonna make this a weekly (daily?) ordeal! FIFTEEN DOLLARS, are you for real?! 91 POINTS! Get a case, get two, you simply can’t ever have too much of this simply marvelous 2021 Sea Slope.

Yes. YES!!!!

In 1988, Lester and Linda Schwartz acquired a section of virgin forest and grasslands in the high coastal ridges of the Sonoma coast, overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Despite academic warnings about the risks of planting a vineyard in the cool, foggy conditions so close to the ocean, they remained undeterred.

About The Producer

Over several years, they experimented with various clones, rootstocks, and trellising systems, ultimately determining that their property had the potential to cultivate exceptional pinot noir and chardonnay. By 1994, Lester and Linda began preparing and planting the first vineyard blocks, hand-digging and planting 53 acres of vines and building in roads, underground drainage, and irrigation systems. They also developed a reservoir and designed a custom trellis system. Today, Lester and Linda work closely with Jeff Pisoni, who joined Fort Ross as winemaker in 2009, while continuing to oversee the day-to-day vineyard operations. Their relentless efforts in transforming this untamed, extreme location into a spectacular vineyard have proven the academics wrong.
