Paul Jaboulet Aine Domaine de Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage 2011 - Last Bottle

Paul Jaboulet Aine Domaine de Thalabert Crozes-Hermitage 2011

Like a light red French sipper? DELETE this one then! This ain’t it!!

No, no, we have a legendary producer, Jaboulet, and somehow, digging in an importer's warehouse in Beaune, we turned up a small batch of this 91-POINT, inky-dark, heady, perfumey, smoky BEAST at a jaw-dropping price -- truly amazing for wine of this pedigree! How do we even do it sometimes? Flabbergasted, we are…

Anyway, back to BIG. This has a few years quietly aging in a cool warehouse, and while still young it has come together beautifully. We simply can’t argue with Antonio Galloni’s writeup….”Heady aromas of fresh dark berries, violet, woodsmoke and black pepper, with a zesty mineral nuance adding urgency. Juicy, penetrating and lively in the mouth, offering intense black and blue fruit flavors and a touch of floral pastilles. Silky tannins…”  RIGHT? Does it not make you want to get into a killer burger or a tomahawk steak or something? At this PRICE??

Seriously though, Galloni really nails it -- this is big, powerful, mouth-saturating goodness --- Syrah at its finest from one of the great masters of this grape. Only bummer is how much there is….better move quick if this sounds all mouth-wateringly awesome to you as it is to us! Good luck!

This Crozes typically shows classic syrah aromas, vivid red and dark fruit scents, violet, anise and cracked pepper. Supple raspberry and dark cherry flavors are supported by gentle minerality and firmed by dusty tannins. It has silky texture and a long finish.

About The Producer

"Because there are no great wines without big grapes, at Domaine Paul Jaboulet Aîné, the culture of the vine is the heart of our profession; each vine must be able to mature its grapes in the best conditions and to draw in the ground the taste of the soil. Concerned with preserving the quality of our soils and the diversity of our terroirs, we have been practicing for a long time a sweet viticulture, and the whole of our vineyard is in official conversion towards the Organic Agriculture since 2013. The efforts made to minimize our environmental impact In 2012, we obtained the ISO 14 001 certification, and our work around biodiversity, the exploitation certification with High Environmental Value, in 2015. The excellence of the cuvées Paul Jaboulet Elder is based on very high fruit quality, sublimated by a meticulous vinification and a breeding of great finesse. Because on the most beautiful appellations of the Rhone Valley, it is in the purest expression of the terroir that the great wines are born, their balance, their complexity, their longevity. ".
