Chateau Cap Saint Martin is like a French (people who actually live in France) wine drinker's insider wine -- one of those small Bordeaux producers that gets consumed mostly in that country. BUT…not today…! We begged and cajoled, wheeled and dealed and snagged a small parcel of this tremendous, 91-POINT beauty for a melon-twisting $12. TWELVE!!
‘15 is an excellent vintage, and you can taste all the ripeness and generosity in this screaming bargain of a wine --- bring ON the blackberry jam, the vanilla bean, the cassis and perfume, all in a relatively light-on-its-feet, affable, lip-smacker of a wine. PLEASE, though --be CAREFUL. At this massively over-delivering price, you’ll be drinking it QUICK. So be aware. Man --- BORDEAUX!! Priced like this?? C’mon!!

About The Producer
Chateau Cap Saint-Martin has been owned by the same family since 1904! Located in Blaye, which is the largest, and northernmost of the Cotes appellations in Bordeaux, is capable of producing velvety, fruity, well balanced reds. Overlooking the Gironde river, just across from Saint-Julien and Pauillac, this charming estate takes pride in producing profound, intense reds, with supple, smooth tannins and an ability to age gracefully. The estate is about 15 hectares and is currently headed by Pierre Ardoin and his wife Beatrice.
